Previous SEET Technology Workshops
The 2007 through 2012 Sustainable Energy Education and Training (SEET) Technology Workshops have been held each summer at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) and the Colorado Energy Research Institute (CERI) of the Colorado School of Mines in Golden, Colorado. The workshops focus on technology content designed to use energy resources more efficiently, including renewable energy. They provide small-group presentations and discussion with research scientists, industry, and fellow educators; hands-on, inquiry-based activities and lab experiences; take-home equipment and training; and site visits and field work. The workshop participants have produced instructional materials, developed a series of webinars, designed model energy program curricula, recommended energy technology resources, identified teaching and learning strategies and materials, and established a SEET peer network to share learning with all high school and two-year college educators in an online energy resources clearinghouse.
Topics for the workshops have included:
- Climate change, peak oil, and sustainable energy technology
- Energy efficient building and performance technologies
- Wind
- Biofuel/bioenergy
- Solar PV
- Solar thermal
- Power grid/smart grid
- Transportation
- Technician certification (including BPI, NABCEP, wind)
- Energy programs, curricula, and instructional materials
