Applications are now available to attend the 2014 Tribal and Pacific Rim Faculty Development Institute, made available through National PETE’s NSF ATE grant Connecting Tribal and Pacific Rim Colleges to Improve Indigenous Environmental Technology Education (DUE# 1204627). The 2014 Institute is scheduled for July 21-25, 2014 and will be held at Fort Berthold Community College in New Town, North Dakota. Attendees will be selected via competitive application. WHO SHOULD ATTEND? STEM Faculty from 2-year Tribal and Pacific Rim Colleges and High Schools
Travel, overnight accommodations, meals and a stipend for participants selected will be provided.
The Institute will include:
- Rich experiences that are aligned to the needs of Tribal and Pacific Rim Colleges that will strengthen STEM education in environmental programs. This will include classroom, field work and hands-on elements, including presentations on low-cost, hands-on, practical research projects and indigenous case studies.
- A half-day intensive program on indigenous pedagogy will be offered during the Institute. The program will be filmed and made available on the project website.
- Mini-Grants will be available via application for participants to purchase supplies to implement the curriculum they learn at the Institutes.
